-Purpose-
To teach you how to work with something that my appear to be nothing.
To teach you to see what could be there that yet is not.
To teach you to see where others might be going and how they think when designing.
To teach you to work with others in collaboration.
To teach you to be imaginative!
-How it works-
This is for 2 to 5 people. Everyone needs to agree on a specific subject for the group to focus on. For example: Ancient Civilizations. You don't want a very broad subject like "Fantasy." Try to have it narrowed down a bit.
While this exercise is being carried out you are NOT to talk to anyone involved in the project about what is going on. To do so would defeat the purposes stated. Pick a person, flip a coin or just agree on the order the picture will be passed on to and keep this rotation up the entire duration.
-Size and Scope-
The dimensions of the picture should increase in size the more people are involved in it.
By number of participants:
2 - 1280 x 1024
3 - 1440 x 900
4 - 1680 x 1050
5 - 1920 x 1200
-Process-
The process you go through is gradual Phases. Don't get ahead of everyone else, stick with the phase your in but keep in mind what you might like to do. You do not have to take up the entire time allotted per phase if you feel enough has been done. Everyone should be doing their part in this. Much can be accomplished if you stick with it!
Phase 1
Each person is to draw a number of simple geometric shapes based on the number of people involved. So 3 people are to draw 3 simple geometric shapes 3 times each. Pyramids, circle, squares, cones, etc only! No blobs, rounded corners or open sided geometric shapes. You spend no more than 1 x the amount of people involved in minutes on this phase each turn. 5 people x 1 minutes = 5 minutes.
Phase 2
Large details. Connect shapes, round out edges, open things up, etc. This is to be done the same number of times per person based on the number of people involved. You spend no more than 2 x the amount of people involved in minutes on this phase each turn. 5 people x 2 minutes = 10 minutes.
Phase 3
Medium details. People, trees, rock formations, cars, clothing, etc. This is to be done the same number of times per person based on the number of people involved. You spend no more than 3 x the amount of people involved in minutes on this phase each turn. 5 people x 3 minutes = 15 minutes.
Phase 4
Small details. Hair, feathers, tread on a tire, windows, bullet holes, etc. This is to be done the same number of times per person based on the number of people involved. You spend no more than 4 x the amount of people involved in minutes on this phase each turn. 5 people x 4 minutes = 20 minutes.
Phase 5
Coloring time! Once this is done each individual must color their own version of the final picture. When posting it you must include the people you worked with and link their versions in the Artist's Comment section. Also send me a link to what you have created. I'd like to see how helpful this is and if anything could be done to improve this exercise!
